his swimming career and prepare for the upcoming Olympic Games. He did not
complete his degree at the university, but he later pursued online courses and
earned a degree in sports marketing from the University of Phoenix in 2016.

to Fred and Debbie Phelps in Baltimore, Maryland, United States. He has two
older sisters, Whitney and Hilary. Phelps' parents divorced when he was young,
and his father remarried. Phelps has two half-sisters from his father's second
marriage.
Phelps has been open
about his close relationship with his mother, who has been a supportive
presence throughout his swimming career. He has also spoken about his strained
relationship with his father, who struggled with addiction and was not always
present in his life.
Phelps is married to
Nicole Johnson, a former Miss California USA winner. The couple has three sons
together, Boomer, Beckett, and Maverick.
