Amanda S. C. Gorman is an American poet and activist. She was the first person to be named National Youth Poet Laureate.

& Early Life
Amanda Gorman was born in Los Angeles, California, on
March 7, 1998. She is daughter of Joan Wicks, a 6th-grade English teacher in
Watts. She has twin sister, Gabrielle, is an activist and filmmaker. Gorman
attended New Roads, a private school in Santa Monica. She is graduate from
Harvard University in sociology in 2020.
Career
In 2015, Gorman published the poetry book "The One
for Whom Food Is Not Enough". Gorman is the author of the "The Hill
We Climb: An Inaugural Poem", "The Hill We Climb" and "The
One for Whom Food Is Not Enough". Gorman is the founder and executive
director of "One Pen One Page" organization. Through this
organization providing free creative writing programs for underserved youth. In
2021, she read her poem "The Hill We Climb" at the inauguration of
U.S. President Joe Biden. Gorman is the youngest poet to read at a presidential
inauguration in United States history. IMG Models and WME signed Gorman for
representation in fashion, beauty, and talent endorsements.
