David Andrew Leo Fincher was born in Denver, Colorado, on August 28, 1962. He is son of Claire Mae and Howard Kelly "Jack" Fincher. His mother, Claire Mae was a mental health nurse and his father, Howard Kelly "Jack" Fincher was an author. He attended Ashland High School.

The film received 13 Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director for Fincher, Best Actor for Pitt, and Best Supporting Actress for Taraji P. Henson. The film won three Academy Award, for Best Art Direction, Best Makeup, and Best Visual Effects.

Fincher directed film The Social Network (2010), was also a commercial success, earning $224.9 million worldwide.
