Who is Janeane Garofalo?

Janeane Marie Garofalo is an American comedian, actress and former co-host on the Air America Radio. She is best known for playing a role in the The Ben Stiller Show, The Larry Sanders Show, and Saturday Night Live. Garofalo is also appeared in more than 50 movies.

Childhood & Early Life

Garofalo was born in Newton, New Jersey, on 28 September 1964. She is daughter of Joan and Carmine Garofalo. Her mother was a secretary, in the petrochemical industry, and father is a former executive at Exxon. She is graduated from James E. Taylor High School.



Garofalo officially began her career in stand-up comedy in the mid-1980's. In 1995 and 1997, Garofalo appeared on HBO's Comedy Half-Hour and Comedy Hour specials. Garofalo's one-hour stand-up special entitled "If You Will" was released on DVD in September 2010. Garofalo's first movie role comes in Late for Dinner in 1991, but her real breakthrough into film came in Reality Bites (1994).


Garofalo is appeared a leading role in I Shot a Man in Vegas (1995). In the "The Truth About Cats & Dogs", Garofalo played a highly intelligent radio host. Garofalo played the lead role in romantic comedy "The Matchmaker" (1997). In 2002, she played role in "The Laramie Project" and in 2003, she starred in the crime film Wonderland. She played a supporting role in Jiminy Glick in Lalawood in 2004.In 2016, Garofalo appears as herself in the documentary film "Sticky: A (Self) Love Story", which was released on Amazon.


In 1992, her first television series debut was on the short-lived "Ben Stiller Show". Garofalo is appeared in Saturday Night Live (SNL) for its 1994–95 season. In late March 2004, Garofalo became a co-host for Air America Radio's show "The Majority Report".
