On July 30, 2012, Notaro was diagnosed with cancer in both breasts and had a double mastectomy with no reconstructive surgery.  Notaro was hospitalized and she has been completed tratment. As of June 2016 she is cancer-free.

 

Notaro was nominated in 2014 for the "Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album" at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards for her album "Live".
