Who is Jerry Seinfeld?

Jerome Allen Seinfeld is an American stand-up comedian, actor, writer, and producer. He is best known for playing a role of himself in the American sitcom television series Seinfeld (1989–1998).

Childhood & Early Life

Seinfeld was born in Brooklyn, a borough of New York City, on 29 April 1954. He is son of Kálmán Seinfeld and Betty. Seinfeld has an older sister, Carolyn. His second cousin is musician and actor Evan Seinfeld. Seinfeld grew up in Massapequa, New York, and attended Massapequa High School. He is graduate with a degree in communications and theatre from Queens College, City University of New York.

 

Career

Seinfeld an interest in stand-up comedy, when he was in college. In 1976, after graduation he act at an open-mic night at New York City's chain of comedy clubs "Catch a Rising Star". In 1980, he played a small role on the sitcom Benson as a Frankie, a mail-delivery boy. In May 1981, Seinfeld was appeared in "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson".

 

Seinfeld created television show "Seinfeld" with Larry David in 1988 for NBC. This television series become the most watched sitcom on American television. It went on for a total of nine seasons with 180 episodes. In this television series Seinfeld is the only actor to appear in every episode of the show. Seinfeld has written several books, mostly archives of past routines. In 1993, he published his book "Seinlanguage". The book, basically an adaptation of the comedian’s stand-up, earned critical acclaim and was listed on the New York Times Best Seller list.

 

In 2004, Seinfeld appeared in two commercial webisodes "The Adventures of Seinfeld & Superman", for promoting American Express. On February 25, 2007, Seinfeld appeared at the 79th Academy Awards as the presenter, and also appeared On February 24, 2008, at the 80th Academy Awards. On September 14, 2009, he was the first guest on Jay Leno's talk show "The Jay Leno Show". On August 30, 2010, Seinfeld made a surprise guest appearance in "The Howard Stern Show". In 2012, Seinfeld started a web series "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee".

 

On February 15, 2015, Seinfeld made a guest appearance in the "Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Special". On May 20, 2015, Seinfeld made a guest appearance in final episode "Late Show with David Letterman". In 2002, Seinfeld wrote the children's book "Halloween". In the 2007, Seinfeld produced and starred film "Bee Movie", which was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film. Seinfeld has received 20 Primetime Emmy Award nominations and 4 Grammy Award nominations.
